Minors. In English contract law, a minor is any individual under the age of 18 years. Historically, the age had been 21, until the Family Law Reform Act 1969. As a general rule, a minor is not bound by contracts he makes, though the adult party whom he contracts with is. The Minor’s Contracts Act 1969 distinguishes between contracts entered by minors under the age of 18 and contracts entered into by minors over the age of 18.
